Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Yetur Gross-Matos. 806. 99. player. EDGE. Penn State

Yetur Gross-Matos is an interesting late first-round 2020 NFL Draft prospect who has ideal size and solid overall athleticism on the edge. He has also put up good production over the last two years, piling up 34.5 tackles for loss and 17 sacks. That being said, I do have questions about his game that make me wonder whether he can grow into a player worthy of taking in the first round.

Gross-Matos shows decent quickness off of the snap, but he is just not very explosive. He does not convert from speed to power particularly well and struggles to create consistent upfield burst on the edge. Gross-Matos also shows below-average hand usage and does not play with proper pad level on a consistent basis.

After Chase Young and to a lesser extent, K’Lavon Chaisson, the edge rushers in the 2020 NFL Draft leave plenty to be desired. The lack of impact depth in the class has pushed Gross-Matos up the board further than he should be. Without explosive burst, Gross-Matos is going to struggle to make a consistent impact on the edge at the next level. I am not saying that Gross-Matos is a bad player, but he is not a first-round caliber player and anybody who takes him that early will regret it.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Alabama. Trevon Diggs. 7. player. 829

Trevon Diggs is a big, long and physical cornerback prospect who can absolutely suffocate smaller receivers on the outside. He is good in zone coverage, but his lack of quickness causes him to struggle in man coverage. Diggs tends to be overly physical in man coverage, which can be good at times, but in the NFL, he will have to learn to tone down the physicality a bit or penalties will be an issue.

Diggs has good overall athletic ability, but his lack of short-area quickness is an issue as are his lack of natural ball skills. There is obviously plenty of upside for any cornerback with elite size and good athleticism, but Diggs is just too inconsistent for my liking. There are plenty of other cornerback prospects who I would rather take a chance on late in the first/early in the second.
