Quintez Cephus, WR, Wisconsin

The New Orleans Saints picked up one of the better receivers in free agency by signing Emmanuel Sanders to a two-year deal. They are also most likely out of range for the top three receivers in the class (Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Henry Ruggs III). Because of this, I assume they wouldn’t take a receiver in the first and shift their focus on the linebacker position or go with the best player available.

It would be wise to still invest in another receiver at some point in the draft and I think a guy like Quintez Cephus fits in nicely. Cephus has very good hands and plays physical. He has a good skillset to mesh with an elite route runner in Michael Thomas, and a guy with home run speed in Sanders.

In 30 games at Wisconsin, he recorded 93 receptions for 1,496 yards and 13 touchdowns in a primarily run dominated offense. The numbers don’t pop off the page, but Cephus proved he is a guy who can go up and make contested catches.

Cephus got some flack for a 4.73 40 yard dash at the combine but gave a far better performance at his pro day running a 4.56. I believe he complements the other two starting receivers in New Orleans very well and gives the team a more diverse passing attack.
