2020 NFL Draft: Top team fits for wide receiver Denzel Mims
By Matt Murray
Cincinnati Bengals
We should all assume the Bengals first pick will be Joe Burrow. He will enter a rebuilding Bengals franchise with some powerful offensive weapons and a couple of weak spots. They will have A.J. Green back on the franchise tag, guaranteeing them one year with their long-time top receiver. Behind Green, they have some good depth at the position with Tyler Boyd, John Ross III, Auden Tate and Alex Erickson.
With a potential slot receiver in Ross and a good number two in place, Boyd, the Bengals could look to their future with Mims. Although there have been talks of a Green extension, at this point in time I would have to believe this will be his last season in Cincinnati. This would be a great opportunity for Mims to learn from a seasoned veteran in his first season and have the potential to move into his spot in 2021.
Mims being available at No. 33 may be a bit of a stretch. Personally, I see Mims coming off the board at the end of the first round, but if he is there, I don’t see him falling past this pick. The Bengals will also be looking at offensive line in the second and third round to help try and protect their new quarterback, so they may pass on a target for Burrow to give him protection.
