2020 NFL Draft: Top team fits for wide receiver Denzel Mims
By Matt Murray
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have made it obvious they are going to be looking for a wide receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft. With it being such a deep class, they could wait until later rounds but I am expecting they want a top-tier prospect, so this will be their shot to land one without having to give up extra draft capital.
Although the Packers added Devin Funchess, on a prove-it one-year, $2.5 million contract, they will still be in search of a true number two receiver behind Davante Adams. They currently have Funchess, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard all fighting for the second and third receiver spots.
Funchess, a second-round selection in 2015, has continued to fall short of expectations, Valdes-Scantling has failed to secure the second receiver spot in the past and Lazard seems to be a strong third or fourth option, but may not be a full-time answer.
At pick 30, the Packers will have some options at the receiver position. I believe the Packers are a strong candidate for Laviska Shenault Jr. from Colorado but Mims is also a real option for the Packers. This really comes down to if they want a gadget player like Shenault or a jump ball specialist and track runner like Mims.
