The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have Tom Brady in the fold for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. How would their top two draft picks be best spent in the 2020 NFL Draft?

Now that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made the biggest free agent splash in team history by signing quarterback Tom Brady, how will they supplement that move in the 2020 NFL Draft?

The Bucs have also re-signed Ndamukong Suh on a one-year, $8 million contract, and they have a pretty good-looking roster overall on both sides of the ball.

Their job this offseason is not yet complete, but Bruce Arians’ goal of getting a big free agent fish at the quarterback position has come to fruition, and the Bucs now turn their attention to the draft where, if all goes according to plan, they can support the addition of Brady perfectly.

The Bucs’ top two needs after looking over the roster are at offensive tackle and possibly running back. Luckily for them, they have the benefit of those two positions being pretty stacked in the top two rounds of this particular draft class.

While Arians and company could decide to draft Tom Brady’s heir in this class (Jordan Love or Jacob Eason, anyone?), it seems far more likely they will look to immediate needs and areas where rookies can contribute in 2020.

What would be the ideal top two picks for the Bucs in this draft? Let’s take a look.

First round: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama

Not only is Jedrick Wills one of the best run blocking tackles in this draft class, but he’s also one of the most proficient pass protectors.

An exceptional athlete with very fluid movements for a man of his size (6-foot-4, 312 pounds), Wills could step in immediately and play the right tackle position for the Bucs with Donovan Smith staying at left tackle for the time being.

The Bucs could certainly look into upgrading over Smith with a player like Andrew Thomas or Mekhi Becton, but landing Jedrick Wills at pick number 14 could be huge for this team.

He’s got all of the skills to be an elite tackle in the NFL for a long time.

Second round: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, LSU

Although there are backs with better statistics and measurables, perhaps no player would fit in as well with the Bucs as Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

Bruce Arians’ offense requires the running backs to have an in-depth understanding and knowledge of their role in the passing game, and Edwards-Helaire is one of the best and most experienced in that regard in this draft.

Couple that with the fact that Tom Brady loves dumping the ball to his backs, and Edwards-Helaire might just be the ideal fit at running back for this Bucs team in general.

He is a quick, explosive back with excellent vision, pass protecting abilities, and pass catching abilities.

Adding these two players to go along with Tom Brady could put the Bucs’ offense over the top for the 2020 season. They would be able to win in the passing game at every level of the field.
