Alabama quarterback and potential top five 2020 NFL Draft pick Tua Tagovailoa is looking like he’s recovering quite well from his hip injury.

Former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa seems to have been progressing quite well in his recovery from a devastating hip injury he suffered last Fall.

The projected top-five draft pick was estimated to be ready and cleared for football activity by April, but his recovery has been going better than expected, apparently.

He released a video snippet from a recent workout showing off his movement skills, which look as good as ever.

He’s certainly not showing any ill effects of the hip injury in that video.

Despite playing in only nine games this past season, Tagovailoa completed over 71 percent of his passes for 2,840 yards, 33 touchdowns, and just three interceptions.

Injuries have become an unfortunately important part of Tagovailoa’s journey. He’s gotten through many of the injuries and has even played through a number of them, but the list has added up to this point where teams can’t just ignore it at this point.

It will be fascinating to see how teams approach Tagovailoa given the current COVID-19 epidemic that is spreading across the globe. It’s not going to be as easy to get him in for a medical evaluation, so the medicals that came back at the Scouting Combine will obviously be really critical.

Despite his injury history, Tagovailoa is a coveted prospect and a potential game-changer at the quarterback position who is reminiscent of a left-handed Russell Wilson in terms of his overall size and play style.

He’s not only able to dominate from the pocket, but Tagovailoa is also one of the best quarterbacks we’ve seen in recent years at escaping pressure and keeping his eyes downfield while moving around in the pocket.

He’s a superstar in the making, but the injuries are a definite concern. It’s not that teams will overlook them, but they are going to have to determine if he’s just gone through a spell of bad luck with the injuries.

The fact that he was still able to throw 76 touchdown passes compared to just nine interceptions in the past two seasons is pretty astounding, given the injuries he has dealt with.

He should be a lock for the top five picks and teams will love to see some of the progress he’s making in his recovery, which appears clearly ahead of schedule.
