Even after trading down and picking up an extra pick in the top 40 of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Lions still manage to get the best defensive back in the class — Jeffrey Okudah out of Ohio State.

Okudah was tremendous this past season for Ohio State, completely shutting down his side of the field and over the last two seasons, he racked up 17 pass breakups and three interceptions.

In this scenario, he would join Desmond Trufant with the Lions and help replace Darius Slay, who was also traded for a third-round pick.

The Lions are clearly re-loading on the defensive side of the ball, but with players coming in like Trufant and Jamie Collins through free agency as well as a player like Okudah at the cornerback position?

That turnaround could happen pretty quickly.

Okudah’s quickness and physical style of play will be perfect for the man coverage Matt Patricia runs, and he should be considered a defensive rookie of the year candidate wherever he lands.
