TRADE

Detroit Lions get: 5th overall pick, 39th overall pick

Miami Dolphins: 3rd overall pick

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB. 3. player. 59. Alabama. Tua Tagovailoa

The Dolphins pull off a trade to move up for Tagovailoa here, getting their quarterback of the future after a massive free agent spending spree.

After really upgrading the roster through free agency, the Dolphins have plenty of 2020 NFL Draft currency to play with.

They have three first-round picks as well as two second-round picks, and in this scenario, Brian Flores and Matt Patricia (sort of) come together on a trade that benefits both sides. The Lions are in need of more picks, and the Dolphins need the main piece to their puzzle.

Giving up the 39th overall pick seems steep to move up just two spots, but when quarterbacks are involved and there is competition for a guy, the price is driven up.

If the Dolphins can move up to this spot at the expense of pick 39, I think they would do it.
