2020 NFL Draft: Free agency, big trades shake up 2-round mock draft
The New England Patriots are officially in a post-Tom Brady world.
That’s so weird to say.
Yet it feels like New England is going to operate as though it’s business as usual this offseason, even if it’s really not.
With that said, AJ Epenesa might be the ideal round one pick for New England. Especially if they are able to trade down and add some more picks.
We know the Iowa Hawkeyes are a respected program of Bill Belichick, who once worked with Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz on the Cleveland Browns’ staff.
Their history aside, Epenesa is really the exact type of versatile defensive lineman the Patriots typically identify as a fit for their system. He doesn’t have great athleticism, but Epenesa is a really good three-down player with a nasty initial punch and a lot of moves in his repertoire already as a rusher.
He gets after the quarterback and can punch the ball out at a high rate when he does get to the QB.
