15. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DL. South Carolina. Javon Kinlaw. 42

Even after trading down with the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers get a borderline ideal replacement for DeForest Buckner.

Buckner was obviously traded to the Indianapolis Colts for the 13th overall pick, but with this trade down, the 49ers have turned DeForest Buckner into Javon Kinlaw and a third-round pick.

Not bad, right?

Kinlaw, an incredible story of perseverance, has the type of build you might draw up for the ideal defensive lineman.

He was so dominant at the Senior Bowl practices, he was shut down with a fairly minor injury.

The 49ers may not be able to get Kinlaw at 15 and they may not even be willing to trade down with the risk that the one pick behind them might be him if they do move off that 13th spot.

Kinlaw’s length, strength, quickness, and hustle all come together for a package that is just about too much for any offensive lineman to handle, especially when he’s lined up inside the 3-technique.

Losing Buckner hurts, but gaining Kinlaw would help the 49ers sleep at night. And they have another first-round pick later on.
