NFL Combine Results

The NFL scouting combine is always a good opportunity for guys to show out enough to warrant some impromptu film study. One guy that made me do just that was Washington State receiver, Dezmon Patmon. The former Cougar showed out in Indy, jumping 11-foot-4-inches in the broad jump (3rd best among WR) and running a 4.48 40, all while standing at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. He also performed well in drills, displaying solid routes and natural hands all day.

In four years with Wazzu, Patmon racked up 156 receptions for 1,976 yards and 13 touchdowns. While those numbers are solid, part of why he wasn’t on many radars was because he played in the Mike Leash system and was never a true go-to option. However, he still made a notable impact within that offense the last two seasons and his combine performance is enough to warrant a flyer late.

Going back to look at his game tape and you can see those testing numbers show up. He excels at high-pointing the football and does well to use his size to his advantage. The long speed is there, but combining that with quickness in and out of his routes is where he needs to improve. That being said, he has a lot of likable qualities for a guy that will likely be waiting a while to hear his name, and he would add some size and deep play ability to a unit without much depth in LA.
