The Los Angeles Rams play a lot of nickel and dime looks on defense, which means they always need extra depth in their secondary. The team just declined the option on Nickell Robey-Coleman, so finding a guy who could help out in the slot will be important for the Rams this offseason.

A name that I really like as a late-round sleeper target is Lavert Hill out of Michigan. Although small in stature, Hill has enough strength and athleticism to make up for his lack of length. He’s got quick feet, likes to be physical off the line, shows natural instincts and had a ton of starting experience at a big-time program. In four years with the Wolverines, Hill started 38 games while tallying six career interceptions and batting down 20 balls.

Adding a smart, experienced and technically sound defensive back late in the NFL draft is hard to do but Hill could be a guy that falls further than he should due to his skill-set being limited to slot duties at the next level. If he’s still around in the last couple of rounds, I really like his fit and style of play with the Los Angeles Rams.
