Miami Dolphins mock draft after free agent spending spree
Day two picks (rounds 2-3)
The Dolphins get a tremendous lead back in the early portion of the second round, and if this pick isn’t Dobbins, it could easily be someone like Johnathan Taylor of Wisconsin, D’Andre Swift of Georgia, or Clyde Edwards-Helaire of LSU.
One of those guys will be there but Dobbins has the frame and skillset to really be a featured back at the NFL level, and he would give the Dolphins one of the most exciting QB-RB rookie duos we have seen.
At this point, it’s hard to believe that Aiyuk could be available in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but it’s not impossible in this particular wide receiver climate.
Aiyuk is a tremendous athlete with length and after-the-catch abilities, but if he falls to round two it will be because he’s raw in plenty of other areas.
If nothing else, he gives the Dolphins a player to dump the ball off to for some fabricated offense as a rookie, somewhat similar to what we saw from Deebo Samuel in San Francisco.
One of the best small-school prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft class, Ben Bartsch is a former tight end turned offensive tackle who plays with a mean streak and has some of the most underrated upside at his position in a deep class.
Bartch is a tremendous athlete and, given time, could develop into a starting bookend tackle with Andrew Thomas for the Dolphins.
