53. Scouting Report. Guard. New England Patriots. Joe Thuney. player. Pick Analysis. 3

Again, the Cleveland Browns offensive line is atrocious as it stands right now. Right guard was a gaping hole all season long last year after trading away Kevin Zeitler. Now, Wyatt Teller or Drew Forbes could step up and hold their own in the spot in 2020, or they could address guard in the draft as well, but bringing in a two-time Super Bowl Champion wouldn’t be a bad option.

Joe Thuney has started every game at left guard for the New England Patriots since he was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. While he would undoubtedly be forced to move to the right side of the center if he were to join the Browns with incumbent left guard Joel Bitonio solidifying himself as one of the best in the league, Thuney may be willing to do so for the right price.

It may not be realistic for the Browns to land both Conklin and Thuney this offseason, but if they miss out on Conklin, Thuney could get that payday he is looking for from the Browns. Still just 26-years-old, Thuney could be another steadfast blocker for Nick Chubb and Baker Mayfield up front for years to come.

Maybe it would have been more likely for Thuney to choose Cleveland in free agency if they had gone the Josh McDaniels route at head coach, but the Browns offensive talent has to be attractive to prospective free agents. The stability of the franchise as a whole? That may be a different story. But there is a ton of talent and promise on the Cleveland Browns roster, particularly on offense, and a two-time Super Bowl champ may acknowledge the bright future that this team may have.
