Arizona Cardinals 2020 mock draft: DeAndre Hopkins trade shakeup
Yes, the Arizona Cardinals re-signed D.J. Humphries to be their left tackle for the next four seasons, which locks up a key part of the offensive line. However, the entire line allowed 3.1 sacks per game in 2019, which was 26th in the NFL. After trading for DeAndre Hopkins, it seems like the chances of selecting a wide receiver at number eight overall are much slimmer.
The good news is that the tackle class is very good at the top, and the Cardinals can find someone to plug in on the right side to form a bookend duo with Humphries. Here, Arizona selects Tristan Wirfs out of Iowa.
Wirfs put together one of the best combine performances together in quite some time for an offensive lineman. He ran a 4.85 in the 40 yard dash, jumped 36.5 inches in the vertical (higher than a couple of big name wide receivers) and jumped 121 inches in the broad.
As far as a prospect goes, Wirfs has all the makings of a Pro Bowl tackle at the next level. His anchor, power at the point of attack, and movement skills in space make him a great fit in a lot of places, and Arizona is one of them. He would do a great job protecting Kyler Murray, and (maybe) catching a touchdown here and there.
