How does the strategy change for the Arizona Cardinals after trading for DeAndre Hopkins? Find out in our latest mock!

The Arizona Cardinals made serious headlines on the first day of legal tampering as we head into the new league year. Before free agent deals officially come in, Arizona made a blockbuster move, one that will help out their offense and young quarterback Kyler Murray.

The Cardinals sent running back David Johnson, a 2020 second round pick, and a 2021 fourth round pick in exchange for a fourth round pick and superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins caught 104 passes for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019 and was a major cog for the Texans in their run to the divisional round of the playoffs.

The ability Hopkins brings to the table is excellent for the Cardinals. Hopkins is a nuanced route runner who can thrive through contact and has outstanding hands. His contract is also reasonable at the moment (three years, $40 million) which made acquiring him a no-brainer.

This trade, combined with the Kenyan Drake tag, puts this offense for Arizona in a great spot already. Combining those two with Christian Kirk, Larry Fitzgerald, and the trio of receivers they took in the last draft, and this offense will be humming under Kliff Kingsbury.

Trading for Hopkins likely puts the Cardinals out of the running to take a wide receiver in round one, which many analysts thought was still a possibility after they re-signed D.J. Humphries. So how could things shake out for the Cardinals in the 2020 NFL Draft after the trade? Let’s take a look at one scenario here at NFL Mocks!
