Ohio State. 2. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB. Damon Arnette. 812

Similarly to their interior offensive line, the Kansas City Chiefs were able to piece together a decent group of players at the cornerback position last season. Using Tyrann Mathieu in a variety of roles helped, while guys like Charvarius Ward and Bashaud Breeland took their games to the next level. With Breeland and Kendall Fuller both hitting free agency this offseason, the Chiefs will undoubtedly be making additions to the cornerback position this offseason.

In the second round of this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Chiefs select Damon Arnette, a cornerback out of Ohio State. Arnette is a quick and physical cornerback prospect who shows impressive press ability at the line of scrimmage. He fires his hands out and stuffs the receiver at the line of scrimmage and also has the quick feet to keep up with them throughout the route.

He is also a smart cornerback who reads the quarterback well and attacks the ball in the air at an extremely high level. Arnette has shown the ability to be an asset in zone and man coverage and has the talent to be an immediate contributor at the next level.

LB. Appalachian State. Akeem Davis-Gaither. 3. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 124

The Kansas City Chiefs have lacked speed and athleticism at the linebacker position in recent years and it has led to issues defending the tight end position and running backs who catch the ball well out of the backfield. I would like to see this team make athleticism at the linebacker position a priority this offseason and snagging Akeem Davis-Gaither in the third round would undoubtedly be a step in the right direction.

Davis-Gaither is an undersized linebacker prospect (listed at 6-foot-1, 224 pounds at the combine), but what he lacks in size, he makes up for with athleticism and physicality. He is an extremely fast and explosive linebacker who ranges from sideline-to-sideline with ease.

Davis-Gaither works through traffic in the middle of the field extremely well and is not afraid of contact. However, his range and natural coverage ability are what really stand out and make him an ideal prospect for the Chiefs to target here. With a tremendous combination of length and athleticism, Davis-Gaither can be a significant weapon in coverage against difficult to defend players in the middle of the field.
