Dallas Cowboys 7-round 2020 NFL Mock Draft: Solidifying the defense
Round 4
Sticking with the defense, the Dallas Cowboys take a very raw pass rusher in Alton Robinson out of Syracuse. Robinson has a very nice burst off the ball but needs to work on some pass rush moves. With better coaching, he can develop into a nice weapon off the edge for Dallas.
DeMarcus Lawrence was a disappointment this season only getting five sacks on the year and Robert Quinn, who had 11.5 sacks, isn’t guaranteed to be back as he is an unrestricted free agent. They’ll need some more bodies who can get to the quarterback and Robinson should be apart of that.
Round 5
Devin Duvernay is a very physical receiver that is exciting to watch with the ball in his hands. He may not be a great route runner, but he could be a great fit in the Dallas Cowboys’ offense. Dallas has a nice three-man group after they re-sign Cooper and Cobb, but they do need more bodies in the wide receiver room.
Duvernay looks like a running back after the catch and has the speed to separate from defenders. He’s also a high volume receiver that will get a ton of yards if given the chance. In 2019 for the Texas Longhorns Duvernay caught 106 balls for 1,386 yards and nine touchdowns. I am a huge fan of his and believe he will outperform his draft position.
The Dallas Cowboys do not have much at the tight end position although I am a fan of Blake Jarwin, I do not see why they can’t add to the position. Colby Parkinson is a big target at 6-foot-7 and 251 pounds so he could be a great red zone threat for Prescott.
He could also be what Jason Witten was for 16 seasons with the Cowboys, a security blanket. Parkinson won’t be stretching the field much as he’s not a vertical threat, however, he could be a key target on third downs. He’ll be able to block a bit, something that is overlooked in today’s game for tight ends.
Round 7
The Dallas Cowboys need as much depth as humanly possible in their secondary and Jaron Bryant would just add to that. Admittedly, I am not super familiar with Bryant, so I am going to refer you to The Draft Network’s scouting report on him, where I think we can get a good picture of him as a prospect. Bryant seems to be a nice seventh-round flyer for the Cowboys at an important position of need.
