Arizona Cardinals mock 2020 offseason with Stefon Diggs trade
2020 NFL Draft second round: Lloyd Cushenberry, C, LSU
If this seems like an offense-centric offseason for the Arizona Cardinals, that’s because it is.
After trading for Stefon Diggs, signing Eric Ebron, and drafting Jedrick Wills, the Cardinals further improve the offensive side of the ball by drafting Lloyd Cushenberry, the LSU center who could very well be the top interior offensive lineman in the entire draft.
Cushenberry is a smart player who can make all of the calls at the line of scrimmage and keep things organized. He was the unsung hero on an historic LSU offense and now he’s poised to step in and be a full-time starter for an NFL team.
With the Cardinals, he would help complete a renovated offensive line under the direction of position coach Sean Kugler.
With Wills and Cushenberry in place, the Cardinals could have a projected starting offense of:
QB: Kyler Murray
RB: David Johnson
WR: Stefon Diggs
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
WR: Andy Isabella
TE: Eric Ebron
LT: DJ Humphries
LG: Justin Pugh
C: Lloyd Cushenberry
RG: JR Sweezy
RT: Jedrick Wills
Recap
The defense still needs some work, but as the saying goes — Rome wasn’t built in a day.
The Cardinals are not likely one offseason away from getting this roster where it needs to be. With that said, they might as well emphasize improving the offense now in a draft class that is extremely deep on the line.
They could use their day three picks to supplement the defensive side of the ball, and obviously Shelby Harris would not be their only defensive addition in free agency, but he might be the primary target.
This haul would be an outstanding step forward for the Cardinals in 2020.
