Sign defensive lineman Shelby Harris

The Cardinals need to prioritize the defensive line in free agency, not that many other NFL teams won’t be joining them.

This is a deep class of free agent defensive linemen, and Shelby Harris is one of the more intriguing players.

His history with Vance Joseph could certainly help him with the Cardinals as Harris was discovered in Denver when Joseph was in his first year on the staff as head coach, but he also really excelled as a rotational player under Joseph and eventually as a starter.

What does Harris bring to the table?

He’s strong as both a run defender and pass rusher. He doesn’t always get a great rush on the quarterback, but even when he doesn’t, Harris is aware enough and is able to stick his hands up into throwing lanes and disrupt games in that way.

Last season, he had a whopping 10 batted passes at the line of scrimmage in addition to a career-high six sacks.

He affects games in a variety of ways, and Harris can help open things up for Chandler Jones as well as take on double teams and get a rush on the quarterback himself.

Harris could be had on a four year deal worth somewhere in the $35-40 million range.
