Sign tight end Eric Ebron (Colts)

The Cardinals lack a true playmaker at the tight end position, even if they aren’t going to necessarily use one in a traditional sense.

Lucky for them, Eric Ebron — one of the league’s top red zone threats at the tight end position and an athletic mismatch — happens to be available this offseason and buried in the free agent market a bit behind guys like Hunter Henry (Chargers) and Austin Hooper (Falcons).

Ebron’s athleticism would make him a fun weapon for Kyler Murray and obviously would give the team a dynamic red zone weapon.

Charles Clay and Maxx Williams caught a combined 43 passes for 439 yards and two touchdowns.

Ebron could easily exceed that production all on his own, but the key area he could improve this team is, not to be a broken record, in the red zone.

Last year, the Cardinals ranked 29th in red zone offense (24 touchdowns in 53 attempts) and that’s one really easy way to lose close games. Signing Ebron can help with that tremendously, not only because he’s a weapon but because he opens things up for other players as well.

The Cardinals could sign Ebron to a deal worth $7 million per year over three years and keep the 2020 cap hit lower if need be.
