Trade for Vikings WR Stefon Diggs

Not to make a mountain out of a molehill, but let’s explore an idea, shall we?

Stefon Diggs has made no secret about his displeasure with his situation in Minnesota, for whatever the reasons.

The Vikings have stated they have no intentions of trading Diggs, even though the wide receiver has deleted any sign of him playing for the Vikings on his social media and has made posts hinting at something new coming in 2020.

Interestingly enough, Diggs posted a video to his many followers on Instagram wearing an Arizona Cardinals shirt.

This could mean absolutely nothing, but how many NFL players under contract with a team do you see wearing gear for another team while working out?

Coupled with the fact that Diggs has made his desire to play for a new team known, this is a situation worth exploring. If the Vikings don’t plan on trading Diggs, the Cardinals would have to make them an offer they can’t refuse. How’s this for an idea:

The Cardinals only have one selection in each round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but this trade seems fair to both sides. The Vikings get a player capable of coming in and making significant contributions at wide receiver as well as a solid day two pick.

The Cardinals get a proven playmaker at wide receiver to start on the outside with Larry Fitzgerald playing the slot.

Diggs would add $11.5 million to the Cardinals’ 2020 salary cap (teams trade for base salaries, not overall cap hits).
