With the Kyle Long era behind them, the Chicago Bears will likely be looking to add a legitimate starting interior offensive lineman this offseason. While this addition may come via free agency, I would not be surprised to see them highly value the position in the draft. In this 2020 NFL mock draft, they aggressively improve their interior offensive line situation with the selection of Jonah Jackson in the second round.

Jackson is a quick and athletic offensive lineman who shines in pass protection. He gets off of the ball and into his pass sets quickly and shows fantastic mental processing on the interior. Jackson is an impressive pass blocker who picks up the blitz extremely well and shows strong anchor ability. Jackson has good length for an interior player and shows impressive overall hand usage on the inside, striking with a quick and accurate punch most of the time.

While he shines more as a pass protector, there is still plenty to like about Jackson as a run blocker. He has a quick first step and moves extremely well in space. I would not call Jackson a mauler, but he does have above-average power at the point of attack. He can move big men in the middle of the field.

Jackson is a smart and talented offensive lineman who can play center or guard at the next level. Sticking Jackson on the interior in Chicago alongside Cody Whitehair and James Daniels would give the Bears a talented interior trio with a ton of long-term upside. This unit could quickly become the strength of their offensive unit.
