Utility
At the University of Maine, Edwards contributed in all three phases of the offense as well as special teams and a sole tackle on defense. Edwards saw an increase in pass attempts in his 2019 season, but a downturn in rushing attempts. All of Edwards play as a quarterback was done through trick plays, many of which were in the red zone and designed similarly to the iconic Eagles “Philly Special” play.
As a running back, Edwards had 46 total carries for 243 yards. The majority of this came in his 2018 season, but Edwards 8eightcarries in 2019 had an average gain of 12.8 yards. When in the backfield, he is an outside zone-runner who can look to hit gaps and turn the ball upfield to open space.
Edwards also earned the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week Award in a standout performance against the UMass Minutemen. Edwards is not going to make an NFL roster purely on his receiving talent but can work his way into the locker room with special teams contributions and hard work during training camp.
Edwards also showed out to be a strong run blocker with high-effort on the edge and has the athletic traits to be a special teams gunner for many teams.
