2020 NFL Draft (First round): Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia

The Jets, despite already having added Joe Thuney (guard) and Jack Conklin (right tackle) with their top free agency assets, spend their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on one of the best left tackles in college football over the past three seasons — Andrew Thomas.

Thomas is a technician at the position, and while he didn’t blow everyone away at the 2020 Scouting Combine like Tristan Wirfs and Mekhi Becton did, he has the best combination of experience, skill, and tape at the left tackle position of any player in this draft.

Highest upside? Maybe not, but that doesn’t matter.

What Andrew Thomas gives the Jets right now is a day one starter at left tackle with length, quick feet, and intelligence.

He is going to play the game at a high level from day one.

Adding Thomas in round one after adding Conklin and Thuney would have Sam Darnold sleeping really well on Saturday nights.
