One area the Jets absolutely have to invest in this offseason? The offensive line.

Sam Darnold was sacked 33 times in 13 games for the Jets last season, and the offensive line surrendered 52 sacks in total.

Those sacks are not all on the line, of course (the quarterback is often at fault as well), but the line is certainly responsible in part and the Jets were also an abysmal 31st in rushing yardage and 32nd in yards per carry.

Jack Conklin is going to get paid in free agency in a big way, perhaps more than he’s actually worth in terms of how he has played, but the former first-round pick out of Michigan State knows he looks good in green already, and he has a chance to potentially become the highest-paid offensive tackle in the league.

Conklin will have no shortage of offers in free agency, so he’s going to have to choose the Jets over other teams, but this is a good situation for him and the Jets both.

This move would fill one of New York’s biggest needs at the right tackle position and bring some stability and a new nastiness to the front line.
