2020 NFL mock draft: Two teams trade up for franchise quarterbacks
By Evan Bachman
This would be a perfect scenario for the Lions. They’d be able to pick up an additional first-round pick while also getting the same prospect they would have taken at number three and arguably the second-best player in this class, regardless of position.
The Lions have to add to their defense which was 26th in points allowed last season at 26.4, according to NFL.com. Besides Darius Slay, the Lions cornerback situation is a disaster, but adding Jeff Okudah could turn this whole unit around.
Ohio State has produced five first-round cornerbacks in the past five drafts including Bradley Roby, Eli Apple, Marshon Lattimore, Gareon Conley and Denzel Ward. That is an impressive list, but Okudah is better than all of them. He is considered by most to be the most impressive cornerback prospect in recent memory.
Okudah has prototypical physical traits at the cornerback position. He has great size (6-foot-1, 200 pounds), long arms, and super athleticism. Coming into the season there was concern about his ball skills, but he definitely put those to rest this season with three interceptions and many other great plays on the ball. Ultimately, Okudah could come in right away and be the number one corner for almost any team in the NFL and has legitimate All-Pro level upside.
