Pick Analysis. QB. player. 13. Scouting Report. Oregon. Justin Herbert. 4

The Giants are in a good spot to capitalize on other team’s desire to secure their quarterback. Whether the Lions decide to trade down from three in front of them or not this pick will still be very valuable.

If this scenario plays out the Chargers may have to overpay to get secure Justin Herbert. On drafttek.com‘s trade value chart, it deems that them giving up their third-round pick would be fair, but they’ll have to outbid other teams trying to trade up, most notably the Panthers. That might mean having to give up a more valuable pick.

The Chargers need for a new quarterback is obvious after they announced that they’re moving on from Phillip Rivers. Herbert is one of the most intriguing prospects in this class. He has impressive physical traits with his size (6-foot-6, 237 pounds), athleticism, and arm strength. If it was based purely on who the talented or most gifted quarterback was he’d probably be the first quarterback taken.

He does, however, struggle a bit with accuracy, which is probably the most important aspect of playing quarterback. He isn’t terribly inaccurate, but guys like Burrow and Tagovailoa are way ahead of him in that aspect.

According to PFF, Last season on throws between 10 and 20 yards Herbert completed 59 of 109 passes, which is 55.1 percent and on throws of 20 or more yards completed 27 of 69 passes, which is 39.1 percent, according to Pro Football Focus. Numbers like these are a good example of why Burrow and Tagovailoa are seen as more sure bets in the NFL.
