QB. Alabama. Tua Tagovailoa. 3. player. 59. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Dolphins can’t just sit around and hope that Tua Tagovailoa falls to them at five. If they want him, they need to move up to prevent anybody else from trading up ahead of them to get him. Teams like the Chargers (six), Panthers (seven), Colts (13), and Buccaneers (14) are all threats to strike a deal with the Lions to move up and get Tagovailoa.

A recent report from Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald said that the Dolphins are actually higher on Justin Herbert than Tagovailoa, but I’m choosing to believe that this is a smokescreen to try to make those aforementioned teams who also need a quarterback not feel the need to get in a bidding war for this pick. It’s hard to sort out what rumors are true and what rumors aren’t, but this one I just find hard to believe.

Tagovailoa was firmly in the number one overall conversation with Burrow before his injury and for good reason. With his accuracy to all levels of the field, especially on the deep ball, his athletic ability, and his proven good decision making he has superstar potential.

In 2018, he put up 3,966 passing yards with 43 touchdowns and six interceptions in 15 games. In 2019, he was on his way to putting up similar numbers before his injury.

One thing that people like to knock him for is the receiving talent that Alabama has is the reason for his success. Why it is valid that Alabama’s elite receiving core certainly helps, he’s still proven he can make throws all over the field and it should not be used as a reason for the Dolphins to pass on him.
