Trevon Diggs. player. CB. Alabama. 25. 60. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

With Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander both being free agents this offseason the Vikings have a need at cornerback. They do still have Mike Hughes and Xavier Rhodes, but Rhodes’ best days are behind him.

This would be one fun selection because Trevon Diggs is the brother of the Vikings star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The Vikings’ reasons for liking Diggs extend beyond just who is brother is, however. He has great size (6-foot-2, 207 pounds), is very physical, and is very athletic.  He also produced very well last season receiving an overall grade of 88.5 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Diggs did have a rough game in the national spotlight against LSU, but in fairness to him nobody had a good game trying to defend Ja’Marr Chase with Joe Burrow throwing to him.

Ultimately, with how many teams need cornerbacks Diggs is a pretty safe bet to be a first-round pick could come off the board before this.

LB. player. 50. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Patrick Queen. 26. LSU

The Lions get this pick from the projected trade with the Dolphins. As I mentioned earlier, their main objective of this offseason should be improving their defense.

Patrick Queen is the type of linebacker that the NFL is trending towards. He may be undersized (6-foot-1, 227 pounds), but also very fast (4.50 40 yard dash). With coverage becoming more and more important in the NFL speed and coverage abilities are becoming the most important traits for linebackers and he’s got both of those.

The weaknesses for Queen are in defending the run. He misses too many tackles and last season he had a run defense grade of 64.7 from Pro Football Focus.

Late first, early second-round seems about right for where he should go and a lot of teams need linebackers who can cover right now so that certainly helps his case.
