2020 NFL mock draft: Two teams trade up for franchise quarterbacks

The Cowboys are already weak on the interior of the defensive line and Christian Covington being a free agent doesn’t count. If Javon Kinlaw is still on board at 17, I don’t see the Cowboys passing on him.
Kinlaw has great size (6-foot-6, 310 pounds) and is strong against the run and at rushing the passer. In the pass rush, he can win with just a straight bull rush because he’s so strong and powerful or with a quick first step. This strength and quickness also allow him to win leverage battles in the trenches against the run.
Another thing I really like about Kinlaw is how hard he plays. There’s one play against Alabama where he hustles to bring down Najee Harris well downfield, showing off his impressive downfield pursuit.
The Dolphins’ current offensive line situation is horrendous and if they’re going to invest in an injury-prone quarterback like Tagovailoa, they need to make the offensive line a top priority. If Mekhi Becton is still on the board here the Dolphins would be ecstatic. In this scenario he’s arguably the best overall player on the board and fills a major need.
Becton showed just how freakish of an athlete he is at the combine where he ran a 5.10 40-yard dash after weighing in at 364 pounds. There simply just aren’t guys who can move like him at his size.
Despite his freakish physical tools the concern with him is he didn’t produce as well as you’d think a talent like him would. According to PFF’s draft guide, “He was largely protected by the Cardinals’ play-action and screen-heavy offense and allowed eight total pressures across his 73 true pass sets this past season.” He will still go in the first round being of how good of an athlete he is, but whoever takes him is going to have to be okay with his lack of high-level production in college.
