Jeff Okudah. 3. 50. Scouting Report. Cornerback. Ohio State. player. Pick Analysis

The further this draft process goes on, the more and more clear it is becoming that the Lions will select Ohio State Jeff Okudah IF they decide the keep their third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. While I think they may be better suited going after guys like Isaiah Simmons and Derrick Brown while keeping Darius Slay and Justin Coleman in the fold, for now, you can’t really go wrong with the best all-around corner in the draft.

Okudah is long and sticky with incredible footwork (as displayed in the drills at the combine). And as he explained to a reporter that questioned his “sloppiness”, Okudah has been very disciplined when it comes to penalties.

The trade market should be really hot for this selection. With quarterback-needy teams vying for position to grab their gunslinger of choice, the Lions could move down just a few spots, pick up little more draft capital and still get their guy.

The Dolphins, Chargers, Panthers, Raiders, Colts and Buccaneers could all be in the market for a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft and may need to go up as high as possible to secure their guy. But I believe that Tua and Justin Herbert likely have enough question marks to prevent a team from giving up enough capital to go all the way up to three.

So in this particular 2020 NFL mock draft, the Lions stand pat and take the best corner in the draft. If the Lions don’t ask for too much to move down just a few spots and are confident that they can still get whoever they would prefer at three, a deal could certainly happen.
