The Chargers traded away Russell Okung, so their two starting tackles are currently Sam Tevi and Trey Pipkins.

Although the team certainly has hopes for both players, especially Pipkins as a third-round pick in 2019, they can’t scoff at the chance to upgrade the position through free agency.

The great thing about Vaitai is that he has positional flexibility and proven versatility.

He started at left tackle for the Eagles en route to a Super Bowl victory.

His ability to play both right and left tackle would give the Chargers flexibility in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Although he’s not a household name, Vaitai is ready for a full-time starting role at the next level and I think he would be a nice addition to the Chargers’ offensive line.
