After back-to-back offensive picks the Bengals look to the defensive side with the 65th overall pick. The Bengals look to improve at left defensive edge with veteran Carlos Dunlap having two years left on his deal. The Bengals can opt out of his contract after the 2020 season which could save them $11.25 million in cap space if they decide to do so.

Uche does not have to start immediately, but would give the Bengals a bright future at the defensive edge spot paired alongside 2018 third round pick Sam Hubbard. Uche can learn a lot in 2020 from a guy like Dunlap who has 10 years of experience in the NFL. He will most likely compete for the backup LE spot that is currently held by veteran Kerry Wynn.

In each of Uche’s four seasons at Michigan his number improved each year and has the ability to either play edge or outside linebacker. He reminds of Vic Beasley Jr. who is expected to be a free agent after spending the start of his career with the Falcons but has more pass-rush ability than Beasley.
