Jacksonville Jaguars 7-round 2020 mock draft: A.J. Bouye trade shakeup
The Jacksonville Jaguars recently traded A.J. Bouye to the Broncos. Does that change their approach in the 2020 NFL Draft?
It was big news for the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday, as they decided to part ways with cornerback A.J. Bouye, trading him to the Denver Broncos for a fourth-round pick. This brings the Jaguars to 10 total selections in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The rebuild is underway in Jacksonville, and now the cornerback position becomes their biggest need. Trading Bouye came after they dealt away superstar corner Jalen Ramsey last season to the Los Angeles Rams for a pair of first-round picks. It also seems likely that the Jaguars will move edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue after they tag him. Let’s also not forget about the report that Jacksonville wants to unload Nick Foles and his contract.
This rebuild will take time, and it starts with putting together a great draft. Jacksonville has drafted very well over the past few seasons, and it set them up to make their run in the 2017 season, a run that fell just short of the Super Bowl. That run was built on a strong defense and running game, and with Doug Marrone still in the building, it’s likely that doesn’t change.
A full rebuild would constitute selecting a quarterback, but the Jaguars seem content with trotting out Gardner Minshew for another season to see if he can be enough. For now, the focus will fall back on getting good defensive pieces in the building.
Does their approach change a little bit in this mock draft? Yes, but it’s still all about building the defense.
