Safety

The Dallas Cowboys must address the back end of their defense. They tried very hard to acquire All-Pro safety Jamal Adams from the Jets at the trade deadline, but weren’t willing to meet their insane asking price. They obviously do not have the money to sign one in free agency, but luckily there is a deep pool of talented safeties in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jeff Heath is set to be a free agent, but I am certain that fans would like to see him leave. They’ve needed an upgrade over him for quite some time now, and this is the perfect opportunity to snag one. I’m not sure if there will be a safety taken in the first round, as I do not have any of the prospects with a first-round grade. That being said, there should be plenty to choose from with their second-round pick.

I would like to see Dallas go with more of a versatile safety that is not grounded to one position. Someone that can thump in the box and run game yet can also drop back in coverage and make a play. I’ve been very intrigued with Southern Illinois defensive back Jeremy Chinn and he just put up great numbers at the combine. Maybe he could be available for Dallas with their third selection, but only time will tell.

Draft targets: Antione Winfield jr (Minnesota), Kyle Dugger ( Lenoir-Rhyne), Jeremy Chinn (Southern Illinois), Ashtyn Davis (Cal)
