Chase Young. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Ohio State. 3. player. Scouting Report. 50

What a dream scenario for the Detroit Lions. It is extremely unlikely that the Lions select a quarterback in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Why would they care if the top two quarterbacks fly off of the board right away? This allows them to simply stand pat and take far-and-away the best defensive player in the 2020 NFL Draft class.

Chase Young is a tremendous edge defender who has massive upside at the next level. He has an explosive first step, tremendous upfield burst and closes on the quarterback quickly. Young converts his speed to power extremely well and shows legitimate bend around the edge.

Young is best known as a premier pass rusher from the edge position, but do not sleep on his ability to defend against the run. Young is a disciplined run defender who fills lanes well and does a great job of setting the edge. He has an impressive combination of athleticism, quickness, power and length that allows him to have consistent success in any situation on the edge.

Edge defender stands out as one of the biggest needs for the Lions this offseason. Filling that need with an elite prospect like Young is an ideal scenario for this team.
