2020 NFL Draft: Post-combine two-round 2020 NFL mock draft with trades
The 2020 NFL Draft class is commonly considered to be an incredibly deep group. There are fantastic playmakers at the position throughout this class and teams could even find gems on Day 3. With this in mind, I would not be surprised if the top-tier receivers in this class fall a bit. Guys like CeeDee Lamb, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III are incredible, but if teams know that they can find an impact receiver later, they may not want to spend a first-round pick on one.
In this mock draft, the receivers certainly fall a bit, but this feels like the absolute floor for the first receiver to come off of the board. The Las Vegas Raiders have a major need at the wide receiver position and CeeDee Lamb feels like an ideal fit for their squad.
Lamb is not going to blow you away with his raw speed and athleticism, but he is a fantastic overall wide receiver prospect who can impact the game in a variety of ways.
First, I want to talk about Lamb’s run after catch ability. This guy is an absolute wizard with the ball in his hands, showing impressive short-area quickness, open-field elusiveness and power at the point of attack. He finishes his runs hard and also has some nice shake to his game. Lamb is an incredibly difficult player to bring down in space and is a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field.
He is also a strong route runner who can naturally separate. Lamb is quick and precise in his routes and does a great job of finding the soft spaces against zone coverage. He is also a strong jump-ball receiver who does a great job of controlling his body in the air and working along the sideline.
Simply put, Lamb is a dynamic playmaker at the wide receiver position who undoubtedly has a bright future at the next level. The Raiders need more playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and Lamb is undoubtedly one of the best in the 2020 NFL Draft class.
