Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Top positional needs for the 2020 offseason
By Evan Bachman
Offensive Tackle
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line was pretty average last season as they gave up a total of 42 sacks, which was 18th in the league, according to NFL.com. Donovan Smith and Demar Dotson made for a solid tackle combination, but Dotson is 34 and a free agent in the offseason, so that makes tackle an offseason need.
While the offensive line isn’t the biggest issue for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but with an extremely inconsistent quarterback like Jameis Winston, who is likely going into a big season which could determine his future with the team, they need to make sure all the pieces around him on offense are as good as possible.
With a lot of good tackle prospects in this the draft class, it wouldn’t surprise me to see them take one in the first round. Especially if they don’t re-sign Dotson or another tackle in free agency in a class that has many viable, starting-quality options to choose from.
Potential Free Agent Targets: Anthony Castonzo, Jack Conklin, Bryan Bulaga, Jason Peters, Matt Feiler (RFA). D.J. Humphries, Daryl Williams, Kelvin Beachum, Andrew Whitworth, re-sign Demar Dotson, Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Dennis Kelly, Mike Remmers, Marcus Gilbert
Potential Draft Targets: Jedrick Wills, Andrew Thomas, Tristan Wirfs, Mekhi Becton, Austin Jackson, Josh Jones. Prince Tega Wanogho, Lucas Niang, Trey Adams
