Another pick, another National Champion LSU Tiger enters the mix. Whether the Atlanta Falcons end up cutting Devonta Freeman or not, they will likely look to address the running back position in the 2020 NFL Draft. Someone like D’Andre Swift or J.K. Dobbins could be an option for the team in the second round, but personally, I like this scenario better. If Clyde Edwards-Helaire falls to their third-round selection, he would be an ideal addition for the Falcons.

Edwards-Helaire is an extremely smart runner who has fantastic ball carrier vision. He does a great job of setting up opposing defenders, shows impressive short-area quickness and works through traffic extremely well. Edwards-Helaire also shows solid power at the point of attack and impressive contact balance.

As great as Edwards-Helaire is as a runner, he is perhaps even more impressive as a receiver out of the backfield. CEH has a knack for finding open space as a receiver, shows soft hands and creates after the catch well. He is a true weapon in the passing game who fits the modern NFL extremely well.

His ability to make plays as both a runner and receiver makes Edwards-Helaire an exciting running back prospect who could come in and make an immediate impact at the next level.

Scouting Report. Appalachian State. 44. Pick Analysis. LB. Akeem Davis-Gaither. 4. player

With De’Vondre Campbell hitting free agency and the Falcons having limited cap space available, they will likely enter the 2020 NFL Draft with the linebacker position being a major position of need. Unfortunately, this off-ball linebacker class is not exactly loaded with talent so unless they want to address the position in the first round, it will be tough to find a sure-fire immediate starter at the position.

In the fourth round of this 2020 NFL mock draft, the Atlanta Falcons take a shot on some upside at the position by bringing in Akeem Davis-Gaither. Davis-Gaither is certainly a bit on the small side, but he did come into the combine at 224 pounds, up from his listed weight of 215 pounds at Appalachian State.

Davis-Gaither is an extremely athletic and mobile linebacker prospect who ranges from sideline-to-sideline extremely well. He has tremendous range at the linebacker position and obvious upside in coverage. Davis-Gaither is also a physical player who is always looking for contact. He is an ideal linebacker for the modern NFL whose raw potential is worth getting excited about.
