Pick Analysis. Javon Kinlaw. 1. 850. Scouting Report. DT. South Carolina. player

If the Cowboys are not able to bring Byron Jones back, the cornerback position stands out as the most obvious need on their roster. That being said, with Maliek Collins also hitting free agency, the defensive tackle position is not far behind. In the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys should be looking to add the best defensive player available at a major position of need. In particular, cornerback, defensive tackle and safety stand out as their most immediate needs.

Here, South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw is that guy. Kinlaw is a long, powerful and athletic interior defensive lineman who shines in a variety of ways up front. Kinlaw shows an incredibly explosive first step, is quick in short spaces, understands how to use pass-rush moves to create pressure, is ridiculously strong at the point of attack and always plays with a high motor. To put it simply, this guy can do it all up front.

Kinlaw never had the most impressive production in college, totaling only 10 sacks in 29 career games at South Carolina. That being said, he was a constant disruptor on the interior who really took his game to the next level in 2019. Kinlaw constantly crashed the pocket and created pressure on the quarterback and was always clogging up lanes against the run.

The Dallas Cowboys could certainly use an interior disruptor on the defensive side of the ball and Kinlaw is arguably the best one in this draft class. Do not fall in love with specific secondary needs, Kinlaw is an incredible football player who would make a massive immediate impact for this team.
