Improving the Cleveland Browns with a seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft

After failing to make the 2020 NFL playoffs after being an AFC favorite coming into the 2019 campaign, the Cleveland Browns need to refocus on the vital positions of football instead of buying into star power. Trading for Odell Beckham gave this team one of the best offensive arsenals in the league, led by rookie sensation Baker Mayfield and rushing prodigy Nick Chubb as well as former LSU running mate Jarvis Landry.

One of the issues disturbing the success of Cleveland was its lack of investment in the offensive line and defense. Cleveland built their roster similarly to a 13-year-old child on a Madden football game, focusing on acquiring their favorite players who can make highlight plays instead of focusing assets into the most important positions in football within the trenches.

As if being one of the biggest busts in NFL history was not enough, Greg Robinson is now facing charges for attempting to transport 157 pounds of marijuana across the US-Mexico border.

Even with their issues in the trenches, running back Nick Chubb managed to finish 2nd in total rushing yards, 46 yards behind Derrick Henry. Chubb could be the future of this offense with the proper investments in the offensive line, and much of the weight would be removed from the shoulder of quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Cleveland has the skill players to compete with anyone in the NFL (ex: Week 2 vs Baltimore). Freddie Kitchens held back this team with subpar coaching that did not complement the offense nor Mayfield. The 2020 NFL draft could be the launching point for Cleveland’s first postseason appearance in a long time with the right selections.
