Alabama quarterback and 2020 NFL Draft prospect Tua Tagovailoa says he will be medically cleared in early March for football activities.

The last time we saw Tua Tagovailoa on a football field, he was on the ground writhing in pain from a gruesome hip injury that seemingly threatened not only his 2019 season but potentially his 2020 season as well.

Apparently, the former star quarterback at Alabama is a fast healer. We’ve seen this guy play through pain before, but his recovery time from an injury that was initially compared to the infamous Bo Jackson hip injury has been bordering on miraculously fast.

Speaking to a sea of reporters at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Tagovailoa revealed that he’s been trying not to over-do things in his recovery process but that he’s also a lot closer to putting on a workout for NFL teams than perhaps anyone anticipated.

It sounds like Tagovailoa is going to be ready to be some team’s starter in 2020 and although the medical exams are going to be huge for him in this process, he’s going to be fully healed about a week after the conclusion of the Scouting Combine.

From that point, Tagovailoa will undoubtedly start working on his scripted pro day, which will be separate from the Alabama pro day to show NFL teams what they pretty much all already know — he can throw the ball.

More important than that though, NFL teams are going to want to see, in person, that Tagovailoa can move around like he’s supposed to. Although a Pro Day is run on air, quarterbacks can show scouts, coaches, and executives their movement skills with some dummy pressure and different drills they can run.

dark. Next. Would the Redskins pass on Chase Young for Tua?

Tagovailoa is expected to be a top 10 draft choice regardless at this point, but positive revelations from his medical exams could make him a lock for the third overall pick, whether that ultimately ends up being the Detroit Lions (who currently hold it) or someone else.
