Round Two: Wide Receivers

WR. TCU. Jalen Reagor. 1. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 872. player

This wide receiver class is extremely talented which may result in some first-round talent falling into the second round. Jalen Reagor definitely has first-round talent, but he may be available at the top of the second round.

The New York Jets severely lack talent and depth at wide receiver and trading up for Reagor would make a ton of sense. Some may have a problem with trading up for a receiver considering the depth of this class, but if you have a chance to trade up for a first-round talent, it would be hard to pass up.

Reagor is a great athlete with the speed and quickness to break free from the coverage. He shows nice strength shedding contact as well. He’s a plus route runner, but he has been susceptible to drops. Going back and watching more film, those drops were mostly “concentration” drops which just means he would turn his head before completing the catch. Overall this would be a great pickup for New York.

Scouting Report. Tee Higgins. 879. Pick Analysis. WR. Clemson. 2. player

Another wide receiver with first-round talent is Clemson big man Tee Higgins. The New York Jets have lacked a big-bodied receiver with Higgins’ size and catch radius. With Robby Anderson likely on the way out they’ll need an outside receiver that is capable of winning in man to man coverage.

Higgins also has impressive speed for a guy his size, so I do not believe he’ll have trouble separating from NFL defensive backs. Sam Darnold needs as much help as he can get and Higgins could be a go-to target when the Jets need a big conversion.

Scouting Report. Arizona State. Brandon Aiyuk. 3. player. 854. Pick Analysis. WR

The New York Jets desperately need to upgrade their wide receiver group so I have them targeting yet another pass catcher. Brandon Aiyuk has been overlooked by a lot of people, but he does have first-round talent. I see him coming off the board at the end of round one, but if he makes it to day two, Joe Douglas should be on the phone in an effort to move up for Aiyuk.

Aiyuk is a big-time playmaker and has the ability to make something happen every time he touches the ball. He also has some concentration drops, but that is correctable. His speed and quickness is my favorite part of his game. The Jets haven’t had a playmaker on offense since probably Santonio Holmes. I’m not sure what it would cost to move up in round two, maybe one of the third-rounders, but it would be worthwhile.
