Depth needs

Even though the Giants have more needs than the following mentioned, the positions listed in the top five should be the focal point of the offseason. More depth is needed at backup quarterback, running back, tight end, and center (injuries hurt them in 2019). But for the top five needs, we start off with the pass catchers and the secondary needs for the Giants in 2020.

5. Wide Receiver

Darius Slayton, former 5th round pick, was a steal in last year’s draft as he was the main deep threat for the Giants.

Both Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate were out for a few games last year, as Shepard was banged up with a few injuries and Tate had the four-game suspension to start 2019. The Giants are missing a receiver with some size on the roster along with another speedster.

Addressing the receiver position through free agency and the draft would help out their passing attack immensely, as Jones needs more weapons on the outside.

4. Defensive Back

The Giants drafted Deandre Baker (1st round), Julian Love (4th round), and Corey Ballentine (6th round) last year. The jury is still out on Baker and Ballentine as starters, with Love converting to safety.

They still could use more experience after cutting Janoris Jenkins midseason last year, as both Grant Haley and Sam Beal were not great options when they had starting roles. The free agency market should give them plenty of options for potential starting corners.

Even though they brought in safeties Jabrill Peppers via trade (Cleveland Browns) and Antoine Bethea prior to the 2019 season, the Giants still need depth in the back end of their secondary.
