Cornerback

Despite Marshon Lattimore growing into being one of the best corners in the league, the Saints had a middle of the pack passing defense in 2019. They ranked 20th in total passing yards allowed  (3868 yards) and allowed 27 passing touchdowns.

Eli Apple has held down the CB2 role since getting traded to the Giants, however he along with nickel back P.J. Williams are hitting the open market. Janoris Jenkins was signed late last season, and while he played well down the stretch, the Saints may opt to find a younger option in the draft.

I love the idea of pairing up Lattimore with another former Ohio State Buckeye, Damon Arnette.

The problem is it looks as if Arnette’s draft stock seems to be trending more towards the 2nd round, in which the Saints do not have a pick. The Saints have been active with trading up for draft picks on draft day, they have traded up for a 1st or 2nd round pick in three of the last four years. If this is the case again, Arnette would be a player that is worth it.

Lavert Hill could also be a target to replacement for P.J. Williams if available in the 3rd-4th round area. He is a guy who put up great production while consistently guarding the top receivers in the Big 10.
