Washington Redskins 7-round mock: Examining a trade back scenario
It’s a different direction here in the top five for the Washington Redskins after the trade back. There’s no news currently regarding tackle Trent Williams, who sat out after expressing frustration with the organization. He’s on the last year of his deal in 2020, so it will be interesting to see what happens with him in the near future.
Iowa tackle Tristan Wirfs has the talent to warrant a selection here and great versatility. He’s played both right and left tackle with the Hawkeyes. He can start at left tackle in Williams is traded, and can play guard at a high level in Scherff leaves in free agency. Wirfs has power and great movement skills to succeed in the NFL.
With their second selection in the first round acquired from Miami, it’s time to get more help at the cornerback spot. There’s no guarantee that Washington will be able to sign Byron Jones or James Bradberry in free agency, so the next best thing is to get a top corner in the draft.
Jeff Gladney is going to find himself in more first-round mocks after the combine. His testing should be very good, and when analysts and teams get to the film, they’ll realize how talented Gladney is. His footwork, quickness, and physicality at the catch point make him a logical first-round selection.
