Top five free agent targets for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Philip Rivers, Quarterback
This one shouldn’t be a big shock to many people. It’s been recently reported that the Chargers will be parting ways with their long time QB, Philip Rivers; allowing him to test free agency. It’s also been known for a while that Bruce Arians is a fan of Rivers. Now that Rivers can sign wherever he wants, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Bucs go after the veteran signal-caller.
The Bucs were under a microscope from the nation this year for one reason: to see if Jameis Winston would throw thirty touchdowns and thirty interceptions. Spoiler alert, he did. It is not sustainable to have a quarterback throw this many interceptions on the regular, no matter how many yards or touchdowns he throws for.
Jameis Winston was first in interceptions, but Philip Rivers was second. However, even though he still threw a lot of interceptions, Winston still had him beat by ten. A quarterback throwing 20 interceptions is still a lot, but if Rivers is brought in, I would be shocked if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers don’t try and get a quarterback early in the draft and allow him to sit on the bench for a year and learn under a veteran quarterback and one of the best quarterback minds in football, Bruce Arians.
