Round 6

LB. Utah State. Tipa Galeai. 55. Pick Analysis. Scouting Report. 179. player

’19 Starting OLB’s: T.J. Watt, Bud Dupree

Adding additional pass-rushing talent is never a bad thing, and to have a sixth-round waiver with serious potential join the roster is a gift of the late rounds. Tipa Galeai is a lengthy 6’5″ outside linebacker from Utah State who can outreach and use his impressive burst to work his way to the backfield.

At only 235 pounds, Galeai is not going to overwhelm with his strength but uses impressive shiftiness to get to the outside of the blocker.

Bud Dupree is a pending free agent and has come into his own as an outside pass-rusher. T.J. Watt is already a bonified star, soon to surpass his older brother J.J. Watt. Galeai could be a situational pass-rusher his rookie year and have a speedy presence on the edge of this Steelers defense.

Round 7

player. 55. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Florida State. Levonta Taylor. CB. 210

’19 Starting CB’s: Steve Nelson, Joe Haden

The final selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers 2020 NFL draft will be another late selection looking to fill in for a potential departure in free agency. Artie Burns lost his place on the depth chart to Steven Nelson and veteran Joe Haden, being placed alongside Mike Hilton.

Pittsburgh currently lacks a true slot corner on their roster, which is a position which could be handled with a late-round selection.

The slot corner position has gained a significant amount of importance over the past couple of years, and teams continue to search for their man. These players are usually great coverage guys who just lack the physicality to match up on the outside with today’s prototypical NFL wideouts.

Levonta Taylor is a 5’9″ corner out of Florida State who has impressed with physical play and tenacity from the slot, becoming a promising late-round waiver for many NFL teams.
