Round 2

player. 55. Pick Analysis. TE. LSU. Thaddeus Moss. 49. Scouting Report

’19 Starting TE: Vance McDonald

Since the departure of all-time great Steelers tight end Heath Miller, Pittsburgh has lacked a true impact player at one of the most important positions in modern football. The age of the mismatch has been in full swing for years, and the Steelers have failed to find their franchise tight end.

Like his father, Thaddeus Moss is an athletic specimen who can outmatch any opponent with either his size, speed, or combination of the two. Cole Kmet may be the number one tight end on big boards, but Thaddeus Moss is the most athletically gifted tight end in the 2020 NFL draft class, a perfect fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Round 4

WR. Van Jefferson. 99. Pick Analysis. Florida. player. 55. Scouting Report

’19 Starting WR’s: JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Washington

*Pick acquired via Miami*

After one of the most impressive Senior Bowl performances in a stacked wide receiver class, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a chance to add a technically-sound route runner with the measurables to match. Van Jefferson is a 6’2″ wide receiver out of Florida who has demonstrated a technical polish unmatched by others in his draft class.

This veteran-like skill set would be a perfect rookie addition to the Pittsburgh wide receiver group, adding production as a plug-and-play starter from day one. With an unknown at quarterback after such a tumultuous season, an immediate third legitimate aerial option could be a great fit for this offense.

Scouting Report. Team Fits. QB. 114. 55. Oklahoma. Jalen Hurts. player

’19 Starting QB’s: Ben Roethlisberger, Mason Rudolph, Devlin Hodges

After a historically memorable senior season at Oklahoma, Jalen Hurts impressed with his dual-threat play-style. After Lamar Jackson‘s MVP season, the idea of running quarterbacks has become popularized and rebirthed since the failures of Tim Tebow and Robert Griffin III.

Even with impressive stat lines, Hurts still brings concerns regarding his football IQ and understanding of the game. His pocket awareness could use work and his tendency to run instead of pass has hampered offensive production. The Pittsburgh Steelers need to draft a dynamic quarterback unlike the three starters of 2019, and Hurts is the perfect option.
